Position Overview:

You’re a Copy Supervisor who brings 5 to 7 years of experience in pharmaceutical and/or healthcare communications. Having developed both your clinical and creative skills over a broad range of therapeutic categories and agency experience, you are a growing leader in your shop, looking for the next move to further responsibility in a positive, start-up environment where you can drive creative—and your success. Your confidence, experience, empathy, and humor help inspire those around you to work in close collaboration and grow in their careers. Sure, you’ve won awards, but you take an even greater pride in helping your coworkers and clients become successful.

The ideal candidate for this position can drive brand stewardship (being the go-to on product labeling, messaging, and style), is passionate about creating bold, interesting, concepts, and is curious, fearless, and hungry to learn. When it comes to writing, you know how to leverage content strategy, different techniques in tone, style, voice, language, and understanding of literacy to move audiences to act. At this stage in your career, you’re beginning to strengthen your mentoring management style. This requires a command of the subject matter and brand strategy and the ability and interest to motivate and coach others to ensure that your team consistently produces great creative work and client satisfaction. This person will also enjoy a fast-paced environment and be flexible, easily adapting to changing priorities.

While you’ll be joining our Oakland office, which has a small, startup vibe, you may be working with colleagues located on the East Coast. Close, daily collaboration with a diverse group of team members will be expected. Cultural fit and strong communication will be key to your success.

Therefore, this role requires close collaboration with other departments and disciplines, including art, medical, and digital, as well as account and project management.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be able to gain client confidence as the day-to-day point person for their brand
  • Contribute to conceptual and tactical development across media
  • Be an independent and analytical thinker who intelligently influences the strategic direction of brands
  • Can write for HCP and patient audiences
  • Develop message platforms that align with brand strategy
  • Flawlessly executes across different channels (eg, social, search, MedScape, email)
  • Juggle multiple projects on similar timelines
  • Can provide guidance to more junior writers, when necessary

Reporting and team:

  • Reports to the Creative Director
  • Supports other copy team members as assigned

Skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and/or experience in a related field (advertising, writing, healthcare, pharma, public health, science)
  • 5+ years relatable or transferrable work experience or areas of study (advertising/digital/writing/scientific)
  • Understanding of AMA style, referencing, fact-checking, and prepping for med/regulatory/legal submissions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat
  • Knowledge of User Experience (UX) principles a plus
